Year 6J 2021 - 2022
Welcome back Year 6J!
I hope you have all had a lovely Easter! We are looking forward to starting our exciting new topics. There have been some changes to our timetable this term. This half term, we are delighted to announce and welcome Mr Carrington to Year 6J. He is a student teacher, who is completing his final teacher training placement here at St Mary’s. This is a fabulous opportunity for the children to have some additional teaching in small groups in preparation for their SATs.
SATs week: This commences on Monday 9th May 2022. Throughout this week, breakfast will be provided for all Year 6 pupils and children should arrive at school at 8:30am prompt. We want to ensure all children are prepared as much as possible for their exams each day. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD IS AT SCHOOL ON TIME.
This Summer term our topics are going to be:
- Geography – Coasts and Trades
- Science – Electricity
- RE – Our big question this term is: ‘Why does it sometimes need courage to become a witness?’ This is where we will be studying how Pentecost is celebrated where we witness the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Our P.E day is going to be:
Please ensure your child has a full P.E Kit on this day.
Homework is going to be:
- Given out on a Wednesday and must be returned on the following Monday. This will include spelling, a maths task and an English task.
- Reading books will be monitored on Mondays, however the children should bring theirs books into school every day. Children need to read on at least 3 occasions per week.
