Nursery 2021 - 2022
Welcome to our Nursery class page!
Hello Mrs. Burridge here!
Welcome back everyone, I hope you have all had a fantastic summer and are excited to be joining us and your friends in nursery.
A lot has happened during the summer, the builders have been into nursery and changed all our pipes and radiators , so we are all going to be toasty and warm when the cold weather comes.
Miss. Cunningham has gone up to school to help Mrs. Rothwell with her Y2 class so we have a new member of staff who has come to play and help us, I am sure you will love her she is called Mrs. Middleton and she used to help upstairs in school. She is so excited to be in nursery with us.
We have lots of new exciting topics for this year starting with "Our Heroes". We will look at fantasy superheroes who use their super powers to save the world and make it a better place by protecting people and fighting against eveil-the "baddies". We will link this and learn about real life heroes- ordinary people that we come across every day who have their own "super powers" , abilities and skills. These heroes are good role models who are brave, selfless and strong who take time and risk their own lives to save and help others.
Our day for P.E. is Wednesday,we will have our P.E. sessions in the school hall, so on Wednesday's could the nursery children come in trainers please.
Nursery children have a lending library box in the cloakroom. Each week you and your child can choose a book to take home and share together, all we ask is that you return the book before you choose another one. I will be sending song/activity sheets home each week for you to enjoy and work on with your child, on the reverse of these sheets will be the Makaton signs we are learning.
We are going to be doing lots of cold/hot cooking using healthy foods, no sugary, unhealthy foods as we are a Smiling 4 Life nursery where we learn about the importance of keeping our teeth and bodies healthy.
So there are exciting times ahead where we are going to be able to record our WOW moments in our Learning Journeys and work together to record special times in our new R.E., Maths and PSHE "Floor Books".
What a fantastic time we are going to have !
The staff in our Nursery class are:
Mrs Burridge: Specialist EYFS Higher Level Teaching Assistant
I love being in nursery and my favourite things to do are reading stories and singing and dancing, I also love painting and getting messy with the nursery children.
Outside of nursery I am married to Steven and am mum to two BIG children - Jodie and Tom. I am Nanna to Jay, Tilly, Grace and Harry and a brand new grandson Ren, I love nothing more than family time... it's the best and the most important thing in the world, making memories with the people you love.
Mrs Middleton: EYFS Teaching Assistant
My favourite things to do with the children in nursery, are reading stories (I still read stories to my children every night) and being creative. I love seeing what the children can make using bits and bobs.
Outisde of nursery, I live with my husband Tom, children Elsie and Oscar and Ralph our dog. I love nothing more than going on adventures with my family, whatever the weather. We go on lots of walks and bike rides, and we love finding new places to have fun and make memories!
We are a 52 place nursery for 3 and 4 year olds and offer flexible part time and full time places to suit your needs.
Our Nursery is a separate classroom and is part of our Early Years Foundation Stage which is made up of Nursery and Reception. We work closely with Reception to share exciting learning experiences such as the visit from the Bacup Fire Station and the Nativity performance.
We get up to all sorts in Nursery and most importantly we have lots of fun! Use the tabs at the top of our class page to find out more information and to discover the latest news of what we have been up to! We have extra information on the Early Years section of our website too.
